Katherine Jenkins has been teaching Suzuki violin/viola for over 35 years. She has a BME from East Carolina University and completed the Suzuki Pedagogy part of the Master's program with Joanne Bath. Katherine took the SPA course in Atlanta and has done numerous workshops with master teachers from all over the US.. Katherine has taught at the N.C. Suzuki and the Colorado Suzuki Institutes. She currently owns a private studio in Sandy Springs, GA; directs the Huntcliff Fiddlers; plays with the Georgia Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra in Roswell. Katherine and husband Drury are proud Suzuki parents of daughter Lauren who received her Master's degree in violin performance at Carnegie Mellon, In Pittsburg, Pa..
Lauren is now a professional violinist teaching and performing in New York City.
Katherine has been playing for the Georgia Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra for 13 years as Principal 2nd Violin and various 1st Violin section seats. She was formerly Assistant Principal Second with the Raleigh Symphony and First Violinist with the Avalon String Quartet. Katherine received a Bachelor degree in Music Education and graduate studies in Suzuki Pedagogy at East Carolina University. She has maintained three private studios since 1982, began a Suzuki program in the schools for at-risk students, and has been a clinician for the N.C., Colorado, and Georgia Suzuki Institutes. Katherine has served as director of The Tar River Fiddlers, The Meredith Suzuki Fiddlers, and currently The Huntcliff Fiddlers in Sandy Springs.
